PROTECTED HISTORICAL MONUMENT
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The former headquarters of the Superior Electoral Court - TSE are integrated in Quinze de Novembro Square's architectural and urbanistic complex, protected by the federal Government in 1990. This complex comprehends the tract between Quinze de Novembro and Pio X Squares, defined by Primeiro de Março Street and Perimetral Avenue. On the tract there were monuments already protected, such as the church of the Holy Cross of the Military, the church of Our Lady of the Shelter of the Merchants and the old Comércio Square by Grandjean de Montigny, now France-Brazil House. The tract also integrates the Cultural Corridor, created by the municipal legislation of environmental protection in 1986.
The building was protected by each of the three government spheres: federal, state and municipal, which is an infrequent situation in Brazil. All of them acknowledged the historical, artistic and architectural value of the monument. |
