Presence in the world / Electoral Justice

THE REASON WHY THE BRAZILIAN ELECTORAL JUSTICE EXISTS
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Brazilian Electoral Justice exists to enable all Brazilians to fully exercise their citizenship. Several actions have been taken to accomplish that goal, among which we would highlight those of expansionary character, as they provide electoral services to Brazilians wherever they are.

A series of services is available to Brazilians abroad: electoral enrollment, change of electoral domicile, regularization of the voter's certificate, and voting itself, for example.

There was a significant growth in the number of voters living abroad for the 2010 Elections; the Brazilian electorate outside of the borders was increased to approximately 200 thousand voters.

In addition to the services offered to Brazilian voters, the Brazilian electoral technology has raised interest in several countries.

Tens of nations in different continents are already familiar with the Brazilian electronic voting system. Some of them even have used the ballot boxes developed by the technicians of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) in their own elections.

The challenge of carrying out the most computerized elections in the world in a territory of continental dimensions has attracted the attention of neighbor countries such as Paraguay, Argentina and Ecuador, as well as Costa Rica, Dominican Republic and Mexico, which have signed agreements with the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) to use the electronic ballot boxes in their elections.
