SECURITY IN THE ELECTRONIC VOTING SYSTEM
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Security and transparency - On the day of the elections, the electronic ballot box is turned on at 7 a.m. and a "zeroth" record is issued; this record proves that all candidates have zero votes on that ballot box. The representatives of the political parties present in the electoral section have access to this record.
At 8 a.m., the board representative types in his/her voter's number on the micro-terminal so that the ballot box will allow the beginning of the voting process. When the voter confirms his/her vote, the information is recorded in two different flash cards, thus allowing the recovery of data in case of damage to the ballot box.
Once the balloting is over, a ballot box report card is printed out, containing the voting results of that electoral section. The first copy of this report is put up in a visible place within the voting section, making the results public immediately. Other copies of the report are handed to the party representatives.
